Sharing
Share an item with another user
Last updated Oct 5, 2026
Send a password, end-to-end encrypted, to another Secure Passwords user by email.
Sharing sends a copy of a password to another Secure Passwords user, encrypted on your device with their key so our servers never see its contents.
- In the web vault, open Passwords, open the item's More actions menu, and choose Share (in the extension, choose Share… on the item in the Vault tab).
- Enter the recipient's email address and select Share. They must have signed in to Secure Passwords at least once.
- The first time you share with someone, their key is remembered and the item is shared right away. If their key later changes, you'll see a warning, and nothing is shared until you compare safety codes with them and select I verified, share (or Cancel).
Tip
The recipient gets a read-only copy under Shared with me; later edits to your password aren't synced to them. Comparing safety codes ahead of time is optional: in the Sharing center, select Verify safety code next to the person.
Important
There is no public “Send” link or expiring URL — sharing is only user-to-user by email. Sharing a login that includes a 2FA code or passkey hands over a working sign-in credential, so share carefully.
