Save a login from the browser

Last updated Oct 5, 2026

After you sign in to a site, a prompt asks whether to save the login — nothing is saved silently.

When you sign in to a site, a “Save password?” prompt appears in the top-right corner of the page, showing the site and your username (the password stays hidden unless you show it).

  • Save — stores the login in your vault.
  • Not now — dismisses the prompt this time (Close does the same).
  • Never save on [site] — in the More options (⋯) menu; stops Secure Passwords offering to save on that site (adds it to your ignored sites).

If you sign in with a new password for a login you've already saved, it asks “Update password?” instead. If you sign in to a site that isn't listed on an existing login, you may be asked “Add website?” to add it to that item as a matching website.

Tip

To add a login by hand, open the extension, go to Vault, and select Add. There you can also pick a Folder or create one with “New folder…” (the prompt saves without a folder).
