Auto-lock and clipboard clearing
Last updated Oct 5, 2026
Your vault locks after a period without activity, and the extension clears copied passwords and codes from the clipboard.
Your vault key is held only in memory, so a locked vault stays locked until you unlock it with your master password (or biometric unlock, where you've turned it on). When it locks depends on where you use it:
- Web vault — after 12 hours without activity, and whenever you reload the page. This timeout can't be changed.
- Browser extension — after the time you pick under Auto-lock after in the extension's Settings (15 minutes to 24 hours; 12 hours by default). Select Lock vault to lock it right away; closing the browser also clears it.
- Mobile apps (coming soon) — as soon as you leave the app, and after 5 minutes without activity.
Tip
The extension clears a copied password or authenticator code from the clipboard after 60 seconds. In the web vault, a copied authenticator code is cleared after 60 seconds if the tab still has focus; other copied values, such as passwords and backup codes, stay until you copy something else. Locking hides your data but keeps you signed in; signing out removes the vault from the device until you sign in again.
