Change your master password

Update your master password from Account settings or the extension — other devices are signed out.
- In the web vault open Settings, then Accounts (or in the extension, Settings, then Change master password).
- Enter your current master password.
- Enter and confirm a new one — at least 12 characters, strong enough to pass the strength check, and not in a known breach. Suggest a passphrase gives you 6 random words.
- Select Change master password. On the web, a warning explains that your other devices and sessions will be signed out; select Continue.
Tip
After changing it, you're signed out of all other devices and sessions and re-unlock with the new password. If you're locked out and can't sign in, use your recovery key or see “I forgot my master password.”
